The Immokalee farm workers and it's supporters won the battle against Taco Bell's refusal to give the people a living wage, and by a living wage, I mean a wage that allows them to just eat.  The win was an amazing feat that proved to the nay-sayers and to the people who boycotted Tacobell that the right thing could be won.

Unfortunately, McDonalds is refusing to follow Tacobell.  McDonalds also buys Tomato's from the workers, but refuse to help give them descent working conditions and wages that would allow them to afford the bare neccessities of life.  What can you do?  Refuse to say nothing can be done.  To refuse to turn your back to this injustice.  Boycott McDonalds, tell others of this horrendous policy, and get McDonalds to take corporate responsibility!  These peoples lives are hoping you are willing to make the sacrifice and refuse to support modern day slavery!

i saw a sign the other day that said, "if Mary had a choice, there wouldn't be a Christmas."

oh boy, i cracked up when i read that. i mean does this church have any idea what they are stating? if Mary had a choice, she would have killed the immaculately concieved son of God. Mary, the virgin, the woman of light, the birth giver of Christianity, would have aborted the Savior. so christianity is soley based off of Mary being denied freewill and not given the choice of "sin", in which case, God does deny freewill.

nah....they really must not have thought this one through.

National attention is growing on the focus of a mother who recently lost her son in the unjust war in Iraq is camping outstide of Bush's ranch in Texas asking for a meeting with the president. She demands Bush to explain to her why he sends our children to die for misinformation? Other mothers are joining up with her protest in front of the ranch. Sheehan says she will stay as long as Bush stays at the ranch while he's on his record breaking vacation for the longest time taken off.

Your signiture and possible comments will be printed in a full two page spread in the local paper where Bush is staying while Cindy holds her vigil. Help gather support before 3:00 Friday so it can reach the print deadline.

Soon the mystery behind the legend of Sasquatch (Big Foot) will be revealed. MSNBC reported that people witnessed a two legged man/ape like beast run through their yard and into the woods. The supposed Sasquatch left large footprints and tuffs of hair. The hair was sent to a DNA lab to be tested to see if it is a known creature or if it is an undocumented find! Thus, leaving the possibility for this unknown beast to be real! KEEP THE PIES OUT OF YOUR WINDOW SILLS!

If this turns out to be true, I shall declare myself a believer of aliens, Nessie, Santa Clause, and most importantly, Catholicism.

After much religion bashing, I have found new insight, thanks to a good friend. I thought I would never be writing such, but here I am. I have found myself in situations where I am defending Agnosticism/Atheism and in return striking blows on Christians. Of course it should not be a surprise that I, as well as many others do, end up resorting to this course of debate due to the over-exposure of Christians telling them they are "unsaved." Unfortunately, this has caused me to over-generalize Christians. I have come to the belief that if one is to claim they are a Christian, they must claim they believe sex before marriage is wrong, homosexuality is wrong, Pagans are going to burn, etc. If someone claimed they were a devout Christian and were engaging in frivilous sex, I saw them as hyprocitical.

There are a number of non-believers and believers who would claim that yes, that person is a hyprocite. Possibly, so. It is easy to think it would be true for Christianity is a choice and when one makes such a choice they are obliging to follow the Bible's moral code. The flip-side to this, would be the choice to be an "American." To be "American", one may say you must be patriotic. You must support the Government and agree with its rules. I have heard people say, If you do not support the president, then you don't support the U. S.

If one finds themselves agreeing with the fact that you must follow all church doctorines to be a true follower and you must be supportive of the President to be American, then what would the Catholic do when the Pope spoke out against Bush and the Iraq war? What about the churches who said a vote for Kerry (pro-choice) was a vote to hell? Now they must choose whether to be American or Catholic! A choice I now believe nobody should have to make based on such horrible logic.

I now admit everyone has there own perception of what true following is, and nobody would be right in claiming only there concept of true following is the pious and patriotic way, while all others are simply impious communists. Ponder it.

1-2-3 The Fun in Learning Logic [27 May 2005|05:38pm]
This week I as accused of stealing three times. Twice by a prick co-worker who does not like me, and today at 7-Eleven. I am the victim of what appears to be a common mistake many people make. Thus I am going to inform my readers about the "black and white fallacy" so they too will not commit the same crime others have.

Simply put, the black and white fallacy occurs if a situation is presented as having only two alternatives, while multiple alternatives likely exist. (If A & B, and A is false, then B must be true).

An example can be seen what happened to me. My coworker's radio was missing. He panicked, yelled how either Matt(A) or myself(B) took his radio. He concluded Matt(A) was too honest, thus it must have been me (A). The true answer was my coworker Walt(C).

When one commits this fallacy, they look like a fuck-head (fallacy intended).

You scored as agnosticism. You are an agnostic. Though it is generally taken that agnostics neither believe nor disbelieve in God, it is possible to be a theist or atheist in addition to an agnostic. Agnostics don't believe it is possible to prove the existence of God (nor lack thereof).

Agnosticism is a philosophy that God's existence cannot be proven. Some say it is possible to be agnostic and follow a religion; however, one cannot be a devout believer if he or she does not truly believe.

The philosophy of Adam and Eve...

In the very beginning of mankind, God created Adam and Eve. He gave them both freewill, as well as all of mankind from then on. Since Eve had freewill, she fell victim to temptation and ate from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. God then punished Adam and Eve with the curse of death and every living person after them. Therefore, mankind chose sin because God gave us the freewill to do so. It is then concluded the reason for the existence of evil is because of man's freewill, and because Adam and Eve ate from the fruit.

Heres a new insight on this biblical story:

First, we must acknowledge the character of God is omnicent and omnipotent. Also, we must note God is the creator of all that exists.

With God's character in mind, we can then analyze the biblical passage of Adam and Eve. God created man, women, and the earth. On earth, he created the Garden of Eden where Adam and Eve resided. In the Garden, God planted the tree of knowledge of good and evil. Symbolically, this means God planted the opportunity for evil to spread on earth. God being omnipotent, knew if he planted the tree with Adam and Eve, they would consume of its fruit. It is then told, Adam and Eve eat of the trees fruit, as God knew they would.

Thus, the seed of sin was planted into mankind. Mankind is now permanetly left with the pains of hate, lust, greed, etc. Because sin was planted on earth, people would then taste the after effects, known as guilt. To be relieved of guilt, one must seek God to be saved from such pains. Because everyone sins, and often feels guilt afterward, it is more likely people will seek God. Thus, providing God with more ruling power. We must then conclude, the existence of evil is not because of man, but because of God planting it on earth.

Heres a good story told by my blue-collar worker. A real working man contributing stories to the people.

this blue-collar workers brother attended Catholic school. we shall call this brother harold. harold and his classmates were all told to draw a picture of something God could not do. one kid drew a picture of the tallest building in the world. the teacher said, "God can do that." another boy drew a sea seperating. the teacher said he needed to start paying more attention in class, and yes, God can do that. then it was harold's turn. harold drew a picture of a cage and said God can't create a cage he can't get out of. needless to say the teacher wasn't ready for that one. i'm not sure if she ever figured out a way to answer him. anyways....turns out harold is now a full grown adult who doesn't attend church.

The monument reads:

"In memory of ATHEISTS IN FOXHOLES and the countless FREETHINKERS who have served this country with honor and distinction.  Presented by the national Freedom From Religion Foundation with hope that in the future humankind may learn to avoid all war."

i thought this monument was interesting.  it says a lot about the religious war we are in as of now.  even if america claims we are not in a religious war, those we are fighting are.

In attempts to increase funding and break the walls seperating science and religion, NASA has proposed a sky breaking idea. Over the past year, NASA officials held frequent meetings with the Vatican church at the Pope's summer home, where the Specula Vaticana (Vatican Observatory) exists. The meetings were centered around NASA funding specialist, George Hinkton, who proposed the idea of increasing scientific funds by sending world prayers to "the Heavens." Hinkton stated, "We have been falling short in funds due to the economic turmoil we are in. No longer can we rely on U. S. Government funding."

Due to the struggle in allocating funds, NASA proposed the idea of delivering prayers to space for the Vatican Church in exchange for donations. Richard Sangreal, a Vatican official, spoke at the meeting. Sangreal was one of the majority who voted in favor of the plan. Sangreal commented, "What better way to reach out to followers of the Roman Catholic church, than to actually send their prayers to the Kingdom."

An unidentified Catholic stated, "I'm really excited to know the money I drop in the collection box is being put to some actual use." Other followers are skeptic, "I'm not sure how we can be sure NASA is really going to send our prayers." Lastly, political opposition has been noted, "I fear this is just the beginning of the Vatican Church overtaking government reign. Next, the Church will be funding PBS and my child's sex education."

Despite what critics and followers say, NASA and the Vatican Church are going through with the Prayer Plan. In the upcoming month, over a ton in prayers will be blasted off to space by NASA. Look to the skies. Perhaps you, yourself will see your prayers or dollars sky-rocketing to the heavens.
